In 1967, Rolling Stone magazine founder Jann Wenner asked Baron Wolman to be his first chief photographer, with an agreement that Baron retained ownership of his photographs, while the magazine was granted unlimited use of them. Over the next several years Baron gained unprecedented access to some of the greatest artists of the day including The Grateful Dead, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, George Harrison, The Rolling Stones, Joni Mitchell, Eric Clapton, Frank Zappa, and of course, the legendary Jimi Hendrix. On four separate occasions in 1968 and 1970 in San Francisco and New York City, Baron captured Hendrix with "Experience" bass player Noel Redding, and drummer Mitch Mitchell both on stage during their incendiary performances, and alone in private, intimate settings. For the first time in history, Wolman has opened his coveted Hendrix archive, and with editor/art director Dagon James carefully selected the best shots for full page reproduction. Jimi Hendrix 1968/1970 by Baron Wolman is a new, very limited, collectors edition book that marks the 50th anniversary of the first time Baron photographed the Jimi Hendrix Experience in 1968.

This unique book contains every single frame of film Baron ever shot of The Jimi Hendrix Experience - 422 in total, most of them published here for the first time. All of which is guaranteed to please the ultimate Hendrix fan. And just when you think that's all, this book goes even deeper by presenting all of Baron's covers and articles about Hendrix from the early days of Rolling Stone magazine with additional archival photographs, new essays, detailed captions, an introduction by legendary music photographer Ross Halfin, and a new interview with Baron. In total, you get over 6,000 words which tell the complete story of Baron's own "Jimi Hendrix Experience."

This is more than just a book, it's a piece of Rock and Roll history!

Baron's photographs will be meticulously reproduced in large format 9 x 11.5" and printed in a 5 color lithographic process with spot varnish, on heavyweight 200gsm matte art paper. The cover, dust jacket, and slipcase are beautifully complimented by metallic silver and purple accents.

Each book set contains a Hardcover book with a custom slipcase, a 5x7” authorized reproduction of the classic Rick Griffin flying eyeball handbill, a postcard of the Jimi Hendrix Experience and a sheet of 4 postcards, and 1(one) unsigned 8"x10" archival pigment print.
