The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's Class of 1992 honored a diverse group of influential artists and industry figures. Performer inductees included Johnny Cash, celebrated for his profound impact on country and rock music; the Jimi Hendrix Experience, known for their groundbreaking guitar work and psychedelic sound; the Isley Brothers, whose dynamic R&B and funk contributions spanned decades; Booker T. & the M.G.'s, pioneers of instrumental soul; and vocal duo Sam & Dave, famous for their energetic soul performances. The Yardbirds were also inducted, recognized for their role in shaping blues-rock and launching the careers of legendary guitarists. In the Early Influences category, blues guitarist Elmore James and New Orleans pianist Professor Longhair were honored for their foundational contributions to rock and roll. The Ahmet Ertegun Award was presented to songwriter Doc Pomus, concert promoter Bill Graham, and guitar innovator Leo Fender, acknowledging their significant impact on the music industry.
