Filling the gaps between recording with\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eSuicide, and fleshing out the songs he was writing on his own, Vega started creat-\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eing his first record and performing live to develop this sound.\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eAs with his visual art, Vega layered sound in a minimalist, dynamic and inten-\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003etional way. Tracks like the classic anthem \"Jukebox\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eBabe\" with it's jiving rhythm and minimalist swagger, captured that approach\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003ecompletely and went on to become a hit in France. \"Kung Foo Cowboy\" takes on\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003ea southern twist, strongly leaning into the blues, while the golden pop shine of\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\"Ice Drummer\" rings in melodic yet plaintive vocals, marching drums and a taste-\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eful harmonica solo. \"Bye Bye Bayou\" is a haunted slice of mutant rockabilly that\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003efuses 50s rock with Vega's eccentric performance style and was later reimagined\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003ein the 2009 cover by LCD Soundsystem, introducing Vega's solo work to a new\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003egeneration. Similarly, The Flaming Lips' cover of \"Ice Drummer\" paid homage\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eto Vega's outsider spirit.\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eNow remastered by Josh Bonati from the original tapes and available on stream-\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eing services for the first time, Alan Vega has been faithfully reissued by Sacred\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eBones Records, preserving the raw intensity of Vega's original recordings while\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003emaking them newly accessible to listeners around the world.
